
Building Construction
This two-year program will
prepare students for entry-level work, technical school admission, and home
applications. Students are welcome to participate in the first year
program, but must recognize that the second year builds on the first year
skills.

Building
Construction I
Recommended for juniors and
seniors.
This course includes daily
classroom instruction accompanied with shop and field experience in the
following areas:
1.
Proper and safe use of hand tools, power tools, and machines;
2.
Selection and preparation of a building site;
3.
Selection of materials and estimating quantities required;
4.
Construction of wood frame buildings;
5.
Local building codes and regulations.
Upon completion of Building
Construction I, students should be able to plan and build a small frame building
using tools and machines in a safe and proper manner.

Building
Construction II
Students must meet the prerequisite of successful completion of the
Building Construction I Program. This course will review and reinforce the
skills and knowledge developed in Building Construction I. During the
school year, a house will be constructed in cooperation with Community Concepts
of South Paris.
Upon
successful completion the students will be adequately prepared to enter
employment in the building industry, enter the military, or begin post-secondary
education.
